At a glance
Reflections is currently free, with optional donations. You keep your rights in your characters and original content. Review your saves and keep independent backups; cloud saving is an optional feature, not a guarantee against data loss.
1. Operator and scope
These terms are provided by Idle Handz LLC (“Idle Handz,” “we,” or “us”), based in Simi Valley, California, United States. They describe use of this website and the official Aurora: Reflections application and related services we provide. Contact idlehandzonline@gmail.com with questions.
Please read these terms before using our website or optional services. If you do not agree, do not use those services. Rights already granted under an applicable open-source software license remain governed by that license.
Linked third-party services and separately distributed tools may have their own terms. Aurora Web is a future service and is not currently offered by this website.
2. Age and responsible use
The website and Reflections are intended for people aged 13 or older. If you have not reached the age of legal majority where you live, involve a parent or guardian and obtain permission where required. Connecting Google Drive also requires an account you are permitted to use under Google’s rules.
Use the website and connected services lawfully. Do not attempt unauthorized access to accounts or systems, disrupt the service, distribute malicious files, or use integrations to violate another person’s privacy or intellectual-property rights. You are responsible for protecting your device and accounts and for the content you choose to import, save, or share.
3. Software licenses and third-party content
Reflections is distributed from the Aurora Lights project under its MIT License, subject to the notices accompanying the software. Components, dependencies, artwork, and content may have separate licenses. Those licenses govern the rights they grant and take precedence over these terms if there is a conflict. These terms do not take away open-source permissions to use, modify, or redistribute software.
Idle Handz does not claim ownership of third-party tabletop rules, books, artwork, trademarks, or content merely because a tool can read or work with them. Only import, copy, or distribute material you have the right to use. The ability to import a file does not grant a license to that file’s contents.
Aurora is an independent community project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast. Dungeons & Dragons and other third-party marks belong to their respective owners.
4. Your characters and content
You retain the rights you hold in the characters, notes, portraits, and original content you provide. Using Reflections does not transfer ownership of them to Idle Handz or change the rights of other content owners.
By choosing a feature, you authorize the processing necessary to carry out that action—for example, reading a selected file, creating a local character, downloading a referenced portrait, or saving a character to your Google Drive. This is permission to perform the requested function, not a general right for Idle Handz to sell or republish your characters. If you send content for support, send only what you authorize us to inspect for that request.
5. Google Drive and other services
Google Drive is optional and provided by Google, not Idle Handz. You authorize Reflections to access app-created or individually authorized files using the drive.file permission. Your use of Google services is also governed by Google’s Terms of Service, its storage limits, and its account rules.
Reflections transfers cloud characters directly between your device and Google Drive. Availability depends on your network, device, app version, Google authorization, and Google’s service. A feature may be unavailable in a particular build or while authorization is being configured. Providing these pages does not mean Google has approved or endorsed the application.
Updates, content sources, downloads, community links, and donation platforms also depend on separate providers. We do not control their operation or promise their continued availability. Our Privacy Policy explains the information involved.
6. Saving, recovery, and backups
Keep independent backups of important files. Cloud saving is explicit: local autosave does not necessarily upload changes to Drive. Check the reported save status, and reload a cloud character to retrieve changes saved on another device. Avoid editing the same character in multiple applications or on multiple devices at once.
When Reflections detects a newer Drive version, it may load that version and preserve displaced local edits in recovery files instead of overwriting the cloud file. These protections cannot eliminate all loss, corruption, import problems, or conflicts. Review recovered characters and any missing-content or partial-load warnings before continuing.
Disconnecting Drive removes the connection on that installation, not your cloud or local files. You manage Drive deletion, local copies, recovery files, and backups separately, as explained in the privacy controls.
7. Price and optional support
Reflections currently has no paid features, subscription requirement, or paid cloud-save tier. Donations through Patreon, Ko-fi, or other linked support channels are optional. An optional donation does not by itself purchase a service-level guarantee, a specific feature, or priority support. Any separate offer must state its own terms.
Payments, recurring-support settings, cancellations, and refund requests are handled under the applicable platform’s terms and consumer law. If paid services are introduced later, their price and applicable terms will be presented before you choose to purchase them.
8. Availability, warranties, and responsibility
Reflections is under active development and may contain bugs or incomplete features. Generated character information, imported content, and calculations may be inaccurate. Review results for your game and do not rely on the application as the only copy of important data.
To the extent applicable law permits, the website and services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or freedom from errors. We do not guarantee preservation or recovery of every file. The software’s own license contains its applicable warranty and liability provisions.
To the extent applicable law permits, Idle Handz is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the website or services, including loss of data or interruption of use. Nothing in these terms excludes a non-waivable consumer right or excludes or limits liability where doing so is prohibited by law. Applicable mandatory protections take priority.
9. Changes and stopping use
We may improve, change, or discontinue website or connected-service features. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where practicable and as required by law. We may restrict access to services we operate to address abuse, security issues, or legal requirements. This does not revoke rights already granted under an open-source license.
You may stop using the website or optional integrations at any time. Disconnecting, revoking access, and deleting files are separate actions. Updated terms will be published here with a new effective date; material changes will be brought to users’ attention as appropriate, and we will obtain agreement where required.
